Injury · Criminal defense · Estates
A Louisville attorney for the moments that change everything.
Justin Gooch has practiced law in Louisville since 2011, first as a Jefferson County prosecutor, then for more than a decade representing injured people, the accused and families planning ahead. One attorney. His name on the door.
Practice areas
Three things Gooch Law does, and does well.
Most people who call have never needed a lawyer before. Here is where to start.

Personal injury
Hurt because someone else was careless?
Car, truck and motorcycle wrecks, falls, medical negligence, dog bites and wrongful death. Justin deals with the insurance company so you can deal with getting better.
- Car accidents
- Slip and fall
- Wrongful death

Criminal defense
Charged with a crime in Jefferson County?
Justin spent two years prosecuting cases in Jefferson County. He knows how the other side builds a case, which is exactly how he takes one apart.
- DUI
- Drug charges
- Assault
- Theft

Wills, estates and probate
Planning ahead, or settling a loved one's affairs?
Wills, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, probate and estate disputes, handled with the care a family matter deserves. A practice Justin inherited from his father.
- Wills
- Estate planning
- Probate

Why Justin
He has stood on both sides of the courtroom.
Justin began his career as an Assistant Jefferson County Attorney, managing thousands of cases as a prosecutor. In 2013 he moved to Schuler Law Office, where he was mentored by David Schuler and spent eleven years building a personal injury practice. Gooch Law is the result: a firm small enough that every client works directly with the attorney, and experienced enough to take on the insurance companies and the Commonwealth.
- Direct access to your attorney, not a case manager
- A prosecutor's eye for how the other side will argue
- Personal injury on contingency: no recovery, no fee
- Free, honest first consultation, in person or by phone

Justin is the real deal. His confidence and knowledge should quickly put you at ease regardless your situation. Not only is he competent he's also genuinely nice and honestly gives a damn. He took care of a long standing traffic issue and I was never once in court. Next I'm having him fix up my...
Justin was incredible to work with. He helped me get resolution in a long-standing case against someone who had continuously broken the law. What impressed me most was how quickly he made progress—within just a few weeks, he achieved more than other attorneys had in years. I’m truly grateful for his...
Justin was amazing! He took the time to listen and understand what we were dealing with. He then worked to get us what we needed to take care of my family!

Louisville roots
The south end, Burnett Avenue, and a practice passed down.
Justin grew up in Louisville's south end, where his father ran a private practice focused on wills and probate. He earned his degree from the University of Kentucky in 2008 and his law degree from the University of Louisville's Brandeis School of Law in 2011, and he has practiced in this city ever since. Gooch Law carries his father's estate practice forward alongside Justin's own injury and criminal defense work.
The office sits at 1039 E Burnett Ave, a few minutes from the Hall of Justice downtown and easy to reach from anywhere in Jefferson County.
Questions people ask first
Straight answers before you pick up the phone.
Does the first consultation really cost nothing?
Yes. The first conversation with Justin is free, whether it is a personal injury matter, a criminal charge or a question about a will or an estate. You will get a straight answer about whether you have a case, what the next step is and what it would cost.
Will I actually talk to Justin, or to an intake person?
You talk to Justin. Gooch Law is a one-attorney office by design. The person who takes your call is the person who reads the police report, argues the motion and negotiates with the insurance adjuster.
How are personal injury cases billed?
On a contingency fee. There is no upfront cost, and the fee is a percentage of what is recovered for you. If there is no recovery, there is no fee. Criminal defense and estate work are billed on a flat fee or an hourly basis that Justin explains before any work starts.
Do I have to come to the office on Burnett Avenue?
No. Consultations, document review and case updates can happen by phone, video call or secure email. If you prefer to meet in person, the office at 1039 E Burnett Ave in Louisville is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
How quickly do I need to act?
Sooner than most people think. Many Kentucky injury claims must be filed within one year, and criminal cases move on the court's schedule, not yours. Evidence, witnesses and video footage disappear fast. Calling early costs nothing and keeps your options open.
